exam mood..

most of the students undergo foundation, preparation, and others have finished their exam...

but.. icpu students still have a week before going to the exam hall... to determine the remaining 30 percent of overall mark instead of the 70 percent for course work.... so.. since it is the last semester in Taylor's and probably a couple of weeks before flying to canada.. hopefully ... we will do the best for it.. by hook or by crook we must grab as much mark as we can to meet the sponsorship and university requirements..
everybody can fly....

bye...bye..valed_ _ _ _ _ _ _ n

congratulation to Koay Keat Yang... for being chosen as valedictorian for this semester... I'm so proud with his achievement in academic and also extra co-curricular activities....

one of the attraction

Well , I missed one of the important ceremony among ICPUan .. If I'm not mistaken.. majlis solat hajat for ICPU students... for preparing themselves mentally and spiritually to face the exam... and to clarify here.. our main intention of studying at any educational institution is not for gaining high salary and others.. but to increase our iman and taqwa so that we can be a good mukmin in this world through what we learn in class...

Currently I'm at my beloved hometown, Kampor, Perak mali.. haha.. not to far from Subang Jaya.. I can even go back home weekly by train.. So, I just received the uoft offer letter, I want to read it and then make a wise decision on which universities I intend to go..as this Monday I have to send the university preference form to taylor's placement center..

By the way... through the offer letter, I notice one of the letter regarding the scholarships given to me.. like a bolt from the blue... I got a $5000 entrance scholarship.. haha.. what a lot of money... but it still cannot beat U of A scholarship..$10K... but there is still a condition that I have to fulfill ... I have to score at least 90 percent average... but then.. compared to mcmaster scholars ... for 90 to 94 average.. only $2000 given... so still have time to make decision...

10 hari meraih undi..

Till this moment, there are 10 more days for ICPU students to choose and eventually accept their university offer. Nobody, want to be alone during their university time.. Friends are very essential as they are the one who will be with us, not our 'mak', 'ayah', 'opah', 'atuk' and others. So, most of the students say that they will choose the university based on the number of students who are going to go there as well as the university performance, prestige, rate of job employment, etc.. . The 1o days also looks like a campaigning time for some of us to attract, persuade, or influence most of our friends to go to the certain university.. It can be seen as way someone vote during the general or by election..the decision that will determine their future..

Here, I want to clarify a campaign "jom pegi uoft"....hahaha

Menghitung Hari

Sekian..

kekalahan....

Once again, Malaysia needs to wait for another two year to win the thomas cup.. A bit frustrated in heart looking our national players who seems not giving their best or all out during the game.. compared to the two other games before: games with Denmark and japan... On paper, it is written that China's players are much more better than our players.. Also, I can say that our country lacks of young players to replace our senior player... Hopefully, more and more talented players can be found.. so that we can stop the domination of China in badminton sport.. After all, I hope that Indonesian team will beat China this Sunday... hahaha...

uoft

looks like.. I got an offer from my first choice university. Now, it's the time to decide which university I want to go.. Mcmaster or Uoft.. both has their own potential and benefits if I go there.. but still I have to make a decision.. It's a tough decision that will determine my future.. if I choose the wrong path.. I hope I'll not regret at the end of the day... So far, if I go to any one of the university, the education or syllabus may be quite the same.. but the environment may be the key point to different both university including money matters...

Since, it is my first choice, I intend to go there.... but there is still much more time and space to decide till 28 May.. the final date to accept the university offer through OUAC... Many of my friends feel a bit excited upon receiving the offer...haha.. some of them said at first that they want to uofa and others.... but the 'aura' of uoft is able to persuade them to go to toronto...

I'm also hoping that more and more of my friends will change their mind and choose uoft.. so that we can make a big malaysian 09/10 ex-icpu students there....

For Mcmaster, all the first engineering students undergo an Engineering I programme, in which they do not specify their specialization yet till the 2nd year.. and also Hamilton city, which mcmaster is placed.. is not really hectic like toronto...so that the living cost is much more lower especially on the accomodation, foods & etc... (remind me if I'm wrong).. before I forget, there is student pass there .. for bus I think...

On the other hand, I got an offer for chemical engineering degree... yet chemical engineering is my first choice followed by track one, eng sci , electric and lastly mech.. So, there is no general engineering for 1st year student.. maybe it has it's own advantages and disadvantages... Moreover, Toronto is a big cities.. the biggest city in Canada I guess... so it may be a little bit busy.. The main concern about this university is mainly due to its reputation as the best engineering school in Canada and ranked 8th among the North America universities.. Imagine if can go there.. my degree will be prestigious ...hahaha... and for a greater extend it will be easier for me to be employed to any multinational competitive company.. exxonmobil ..perhaps or others that I don't really know.. that will pay the best salary for me.. opps.. I forget.. I need to serve for my country... nevermind... I'll never forget who is sponsoring me.. if I go there... (too ambitious hope)

Last but not least....

which one to choose ??

VALEDICTORIAN....

This morning, before starting my chemistry class, once in the blue moon Ms. Nadeline called me.. "where is Ahmad Zahir"... Yes.. I said.. I'm a bit frightened on that time.. The main thing playing in my mind was that I've done something wrong or didn't pass my literacy test... But, something unexpected happened, she said "You are chosen as the list of nominees for VALEDICTORIAN.. On that time, what the heaven is VALEDICTORIAN... After while, after a brief explanation by Nadeline, what I understand, I am chosen for a long standing candidates to give a speech during incoming graduation day...most likely as the student representative...

Here I provide the definition of the word 'VALEDICTORIAN'

A student, usually one who has been the most successful in a particular class, who makes a speech at a special ceremony at the end of a school year - Cambridge Online Dictionary

But.. there is only one student to be chosen from 10 candidates... So, am I able to compete with them??.. plus I am too lazy to join any extra curriculum activities as I think that it is not very useful for Canada university admission compared during my secondary school time.. as I join one of the leadership society such as prefect and others just to get the government scholarship... Basically, it is not a new experience for me to give a speech in front of the crowd as before this I'm responsible to be the chairperson for daily ceremony and other.. But it may be slightly different as there may be canadian audience from ontario education department.. Last but not least, I just accept all of the decisions with open heart...
Hope to achieve that title with greatest effort in the coming test and ISU assigment.. Arigato Gozaimas

You're Still The One....

Last week, I watched the American Idol show...hahaha.. quite affected and influenced by reality show lately eventhough life is getting tight and busy with a lot of work... So for that time, the contestants had to sing a song from Shania Twain's song... Her song and melody was so great and I'm attracted with one of the song, You're Still The One on that night.. Let's enjoy the song..

UAE

Just now in my malaysian studies class, En. Khairy asked the students about UAE as the administration system of that country is just the same to the monarchy constitution system (raja perlembagaaan) practiced in Malaysia.. In Malaysia, 'sultan' or yang 'dipertuan besar' will rotate every 4 or 5 years to become the 'yang di-pertuan agong' and it same goes to UAE.. Basically, UAE has seven states known as emirates ; Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah, and Fujairah...

Here I just want to list others information about UAE:

  • Arab official language and Islam official religion
  • has seventh largest oil reserves in the world
  • Member of Arab League,UN, WTO, OPEC
  • Abu Dhabi is the largest emirates while Ajman is the smallest emirates
  • The politics are based on federal, presidential & elective monarchy
  • Has three branches of administration system; legislative, executive, judiciary
  • Practice liberal laws contrast with Saudi Arabia
  • Sharia laws are practice in family laws, inheritance and certain criminal acts
  • Human rights are legally protected by the Constitution of UAE :freedom of speech, religion, movement etc
Actually, there is insurmountable of information to talk about this region.. I think it is enough as it is difficult to extract the point from the passage.. Anyway go this open source link to know more about UAE..

freedom of speech?

This morning, near the KLCC park, there was a demonstration organized by Writers' Alliance for Media Independence (WAMI). They said that all of the main media streams in Malaysia are against freedom of speech and were controlled by political parties. They protested the interference of political party in main stream media, so they demonstrated by reading the main stream newspaper as you can see above upside down. They said that, they can see the messages in the newspaper in different point of view or in easier word, they didn't trust and respect any main media stream in Malaysia. Fortunately, there was a brave and courages group of NGOs who also participated in the demonstration by reading 'harakah daily' and 'suara keadilan' upside down. These groups of NGOs also wanted to protest against all of the sensitives and slanders news brought by these newspaper.

Based on my point if view, they cannot blame all of the main media stream totally especially the main newspaper such as utusan , berita harian and others that against the freedom of speech. If we go through any of the opposition newspapers, all that the readers can find out are mostly slanders and accusation to the federal government that for me are totally craps and just aims to influence people negatively. For example, zambry kadir cases, the opposition newspaper accuse him as the terrorist when he had a visit to US and after all it was totally wrong and for the recent by election, there was a lot of propaganda and sensitive issues just to raise people sympathy . After all, both sides try to defend their political survival but in different attempts and ways. Here, I want to stress that in this globalization world, we as the educated and new generation people should use our mind to filter and differentiate any news and information whether it is true or not, not matter which newspaper we read, opposition or mainstream medias. Till next post.....

mosque usj 2..gsc

A lot of thing happened this week... and it was totally fun.. Begin with a trip to summit gsc cinema until the 5 hour community service at usj 2 mosque.... A few days back, the iron man 2 was available at any nearest cinemas in malaysia, so a total of 25 gentlemen of icpu took the precious time to release their tremendous stressed of having a lot of test and assignment by watching the movie at mid night and ended about 2.45 am.. I'm so sorry to my roommate for not telling him that I wanted to watch the movie that night... Just now.. I just completed my 10 community services.. luckily for icpu students we just need to complete 10 hour community service because as far as I concern, Ib students need to complete more than 100 hour.. haha... For this time, my friend and I went to to usj 2 mosque.. as usual, I want to do the easiest work that required the least consumption of energy...hahah...(I'm not that lazy).. And for the first time, I painted some part of the mosque's front wall and did some work ... and it ended up after zuhur prayer... To emphasize here.. all of us who did the community service were all not taking their bath yet on that time..hahah... (takut air rupenye)..
